Damn Jones

Damn Jones is the founder and head editor of footshooter. His passion for literature, music, and stewarding the work of other artists led him to dream up the zine and his punk ethos led him to make it happen.

He writes voice-driven, lyrical literary fiction and numinous poetry shaped by grief, faith, violence, memory, and spiritual fracture. He is a proud member of the Thirty West Publishing House masthead and the author of two novellas, including Keel., longlisted for the 2026 Fugere Book Prize for Finely Crafted Novellas. His short story, “I Did Not Kill Aubrey Deacons.”, was published in Porchlight: A Journal of Southern Literature. Originally from Appalachian Ohio, he now resides in the Ozarks of Missouri and has a background in the mental health field.

Some of his favorite bands include: Brand New, Frightened Rabbit, Neutral Milk Hotel, Third Eye Blind, Sufjan Stevens, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Fall Out Boy, David Bazan, The Menzingers, Pheobe Bridgers, Mount Eerie, Skillet, The Wonder Years, Blink 182, Underoath, Spanish Love Songs, Alkaline Trio, and Nirvana.

He has an awesome girlfriend, a miniature Schnauzer named Boyd, and an orange cat named Buddy.
